This gun is an awesome gun,but it is a little dated, it’s a 30 plus year old design, but it still has a lot of great qualities. Recently there has been a revival in the hammer fired pistol. Single action, double action takes a little bit more skill to runbecause that first trigger press is heavier, longer, and it’s a little bit more difficult.The Beretta M9 is a great gun. Some of the specs that make this gun so great are:the Beretta M9 is a full size fighting handgun,it’s heavier,it’s got a full sized grip, a nice long slide and barrel on top, you get two mags with it and they are 15 rounders. Another nice thing about these guns since they’ve been around so long is that Mags are all over the place. Just do a Hey Google or Hey Siri search to locate all the magazine options, you can find Beretta mags everywhere. The mag release is large, so it really shoots those magazines out of there. This is a hammer fired gun so at the back you’re going to see a hammer. It’s got a hole in it, skeletonized a little bit and it has a decocker and safety. This decocker safety can be a point of contention for a lot of people because it’s kind of counterintuitive to decock and to put it on safe.You’re swiping down when really it’s probably better to push that up todecock and to it put on safe. The Beretta M9 has an ambidextrous safety and de Cocker and you are going to push the de Cocker and safety up to make the gun hot.

The slide has an open top design, this adds to this gun’s reliability. There’s not a lot that can go wrong here because this open top design doesn’t dirt or grit to really get stuck or jammed inthere.The really only issue you might run into as far as malfunctions go is failure to fire lite primer strikes, but even that is going to be very rare. The hammer is hits hard and is very reliable so there’s not a lot to go wrong with the Beretta M9. The military service career is a testament to its reliability. The open top slide design makes it really easy to keep things out of the chamber and clogging up the works. The sights on top are pretty simple, they have a white dot up front, and you cannot remove this asit is a part of the top slide. Then there is a rear aperture that is dovetailed,andyou could swap that out if you wanted to,but the front sight is there to stay.Underneath on the frame there isno accessory rail so if you wanted to run this as a concealed carry gun and put a light on it, that’s not a possibility. There are other variants of the Beretta that do have the accessory rail so if that’s more your speed, you might want to check those out.

There is some checkering on the front of the trigger guard so if you’re a guy that likes wrap his finger around the front, there is some texture there. The Beretta is heavy, it’s a full sized service handgun but heavy guns make it easy to manage that recoil. But Beretta made it as easy as possible with this triggerit’s pretty smooth, but heavy. The single action is nice and short and crisp so, after the first shot, and every subsequent shot after that, it’s going to be single action until you run dry.
