What this means is that wherever you leave it that’s where it stays, and it doesn’t require any additional lock up. The upper platform moves up or down on linear motion bearings. The joystick mechanism gives 120 MOA windage and the same in elevation. When you find the spot that you like, it just simply a matter of locking it up with the lock up, and now you’re set and ready to go. In addition, the rest includes a handy shelf for ammunition. This can be mounted either to the right side or to the left. The Bench Beast System is suitable for events where the front and rear rest are allowed to be connected together, and also suitable for those where they must be separate.

 

There are two ways to achieve perfect rest beg side tension. The first is to move either side plate carrier in or out, and lock it in place. The second is to use the adjusting knob to fine tune the tension so the gun rides absolutely perfectly back and forth. In addition, there is a forend stop that allows you to bring your gun to exactly the same point to fire each shot so you can achieve maximum consistency. The bag supplied with the rest can easily be adjusted so it’s a perfect fit for sporting rifles with narrower forends. As standard equipment the rest comes equipped with a front leather rest bag that is an absolutely perfect fit for the Savage FTR.  For guns with wide forends an extra wide rest bag is available as an option on the replacement parts list.

 

Many serious competitive shooters prefer to make their fine adjustments for windage and elevation from the rear of the gun rather than the front. This way they can maintain a consistent tight position and cheek weld throughout their entire shot string. The Hyskore 30196 features ambidextrous windage control and ambidextrous elevation control. The elevation mechanism is a compound scissor. Wherever you set it that’s where it stays without any creep, movement, or any secondary lock up necessary. In addition, the rest features three point levelling with three HRC 65 hardened levelling jacks.

 

For the same reasons that the Universal Rest makes a great rear rest, it also makes a great front rest. The set includes a magnetic bubble level, and a leather rabbit ear rest bag. If buying the entire set does not suit your needs, simply get a couple blocks of wood and a rear rest bag and you’ll be ready to go. In order to avoid damage to the mechanism of the rest, make sure you use two wrenches in the final stage of tightening the joystick. Use one wrench to hold back on the joystick, and use the other wrench to tighten the lock nut.
